Carpetright owed at least 11 retail businesses nearly £3.5m in outstanding rent and charges following the firm’s collapse, according to its recently filed statement of affairs.
DFS for Newcraighall, Lothian, is owed more than £1m by the flooring specialist, Interiors Monthly reported.
B&M is owed around £385k, while Furniture Village is owed £324k, and Bensons for Beds is indebted by almost £168k.
Additionally, Lidl is in the red by £102k, Asda by £24k, B&Q by £15k and Marks and Spencer by £12k.
The retailers, alongside pension funds, property companies, charitable foundations, local authorities and individuals are indebted by a total of £148k.
As well as owing money to retailers, Carpetright shoppers are also owed £8m in outstanding orders by the collapsed chain.
However, the majority of the 21,000 customers impacted are expected not to be refunded, according to the statement of affairs.
Sources close the situation have also indicated that the final amount of money owed by the collapsed carpet giant is likely to be “considerably” higher.
